چکیده
Abstract Background Endothelial glycocalyx (EG) abnormal degradation were widely found in critical illness. However, data of EG multiple traumas is limited. We performed a study to assess the and correlation between organ functions polytrauma patients. Methods A prospective observational was conducted enroll health participants (control group) patients (trauma at University affiliated hospital Feb 2020 Oct 2020. Syndecan1 (SDC1) heparin sulfate (HS) detected serum sample both groups. In trauma group, injury severity scores (ISS) sequential failure assessments (SOFA) calculated. Occurrences acute kidney (AKI), trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC) within 48 h 28-day all-cause mortality group recorded. Serum SDC1 HS levels compared two Correlations SDC1/HS indicators systems analyzed. ROC analyses predictive value for AKI, TIC h, group. Results There 45 15 healthy collected, totally. significantly higher than control (69.39 [54.18–130.80] vs. 24.15 [13.89–32.36], 38.92 [30.47–67.96] 15.55 [11.89–23.24], P < 0.001, respectively). Trauma divided into high low according median. High had more severe ISS, SOFA scores, worse (respiratory, kidney, coagulation metabolic system), incidence hypothermia, acidosis shock. The area under receiver operator characteristic curves (AUC) predict occurrence 0.838 (95% CI : 0.720–0.957), 0.700 0.514–0.885) 0.764 0.543–0.984), respectively. Conclusions elevated patients, correlated with impaired respiratory, early stage. valuable indicator onset TIC,

Degradation of the endothelial glycocalyx is associated with chylomicron leakage in mouse cremaster muscle microcirculation.
A thick endothelial glycocalyx contributes to the barrier function of vascular endothelium in macro- and microcirculation. We hypothesised in the current study that diet-induced hyperlipidaemia perturbs the glycocalyx, resulting in decreased dimensions of this layer and increased transendothelial lipoprotein leakage in capillaries. Glycocalyx thickness was measured in mouse cremaster muscle cap...
متن کاملHemorrhagic shock drives glycocalyx, barrier and organ dysfunction early after polytrauma.
Polytrauma (PT) is frequently associated with hemorrhagic shock (HS), which increases morbidity and mortality. Although various aspects of HS have been addressed in PT patients, the impact of an additional HS is largely unknown regarding the development of multiple organ dysfunction associated with disturbed glycocalyx and barrier function early after trauma. A prospective, longitudinal, mono-c...
متن کاملEndothelial glycocalyx degradation is more severe in patients with non-pulmonary sepsis compared to pulmonary sepsis and associates with risk of ARDS and other organ dysfunction
BACKGROUND Disruption of the endothelial glycocalyx contributes to acute lung injury in experimental sepsis but has not been well studied in humans. To study glycocalyx degradation in sepsis-induced ARDS, we measured plasma levels of syndecan-1, a marker for glycocalyx degradation. METHODS The present study is a retrospective observational study of 262 ventilated medical ICU patients at risk ...
متن کاملEarly impairment of skeletal muscle endothelial glycocalyx barrier properties in diet‐induced obesity in mice
While previous studies have indicated an important role for the endothelial glycocalyx in regulation of microvascular function, it was recently shown that acute enzymatic glycocalyx degradation in rats was associated with an impaired insulin-mediated glucose disposal. The aim of this study was to determine whether glycocalyx damage in skeletal muscle occurs at an early stage of diet-induced obe...
متن کاملRepeated Low Intensity Blast Exposure Is Associated with Damaged Endothelial Glycocalyx and Downstream Behavioral Deficits
Current clinical research into mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) has focused on white matter changes as identified by advanced MRI based imaging techniques. However, perivascular tau accumulation in the brains of individuals diagnosed with mTBI suggests that the vasculature plays a key role in the pathology. This study used a rat model to examine whether the endothelial glycocalyx, a layer of ...
